From outside,
brought in.
Rāwaho — from outside. Foreigner. The one who comes from beyond the group. We took the name on purpose.
Rāwaho is a gallery for indigenous and cross-cultural work. We represent artists whose practice sits between worlds — between tradition and contemporary form, between the inside of a culture and the wider audience it speaks to. We present the work without translating it down.

The programme
Each work begins with kōrero — a conversation about story, place and purpose. Works are released in small, signed and numbered editions, and offered through the gallery by appointment.
The roster
Rāwaho opens with new ink works by Sam Hoete. Over the coming seasons we'll introduce further indigenous and cross-cultural artists — each chosen carefully, each given space to be heard on their own terms.
